Chrysoberyl

Generic Information:

Name Origin: despite its name, Chrysoberyl is not part of the famous Beryl gemstone family. They share the presence of the mineral beryl but, on the other hand, have a totally different chemical composition and crystal structure. Its name comes from the Greek word for gold, chrysós.

Main Colors: golden yellow, yellowish green, pale, and red.
Producing Countries: there are notable sources of Chrysoberyl in Brazil, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Australia, India, Tanzania, Madagascar, and the United States.

Common Shapes: they are usually cut as emerald, antique and brilliant.
Usual Treatment: there is usually no specific treatment for chrysoberyl. But, some of them can be treated through fracture filling, irradiation, and coating.
